Dear Irina,

	I would like to get Vera a ring, and I understand she has
discussed two with you.  Could you describe them and let me know
how much they would cost?  Please write to this address in order to
preserve some elment of surprise.
Incidentally, Mrs. Hurd remarked that she was pleased with the jewelry
she bought from you.

	Everyone is fine here, and Vera is very busy helping
plan the American Women's Himalayan Expedition which will attempt
to climb Annapurna I next Fall.  (I don't know if Vera has already
written you telling about it).
Anyway, they are in publicity and money-raising phase now.  It seems
to be going well though getting publicity seems to have been
easier than translating it into money.  The %2National Geographic%1
has agreed to provide some support, and they are pursuing various
corporations including IBM.  They are also selling an expedition
T-shirt.

	 I hope you are well and that we will meet again sometime
in the not too distant future.
